AuroraCore-remote Visualizer host computer usage tutorial
1. Preparation Steps
Download the latest host computer from the SLAMTEC official website. You can also download the host computer compressed package from the provided Baidu Cloud Drive.

2. Power On
- Power on the device using a DC 9-24V 2A power supply.

- Use a USB-enabled Power on the device using the PD3.0 Type-C data cable.

3. Connecting the Aurora S
This product requires the optional driver-free network adapter included in the accessory package to use the hotspot connection. If you don't have a network adapter, you'll need to connect an external network cable to establish a local area network for data acquisition.

The image above shows connecting the Aurora to a wired network via a laptop's Ethernet port, establishing LAN communication.
Run Aurora Remote. In the pop-up window, the laptop will automatically search for the static IP address "192.168.11.1." Click the IP address and click Connect.
If the IP address isn't automatically found, enter "192.168.11.1" in the "Manually Enter Address" field and click Connect to connect.

After successful connection, the map creation screen will appear.

4. Aurora Initialization
- Aim the Aurora at an area with a high number of features, within a distance of 2 meters. Avoid environments with few features, such as open plains, areas with large areas of glass and other reflective surfaces, and areas with many dynamic objects. This ensures sufficient initialization features and produces better data results.
- Keep the device still.
- On the Aurora Remote main interface, click "Device Operations" --> "Reset Map." The device will begin initializing.

- When initialization is complete, a pop-up window will appear in the lower-right corner of the Aurora Remote, indicating that initialization is complete.

5. Start Mapping
Route Planning and Recommendations
- Ensure as many observations as possible during the scan.
- Avoid scanning new areas constantly; consider making some loops.
- Avoid the impact of dynamic objects.
- Use as many closed loops as possible.
- Avoid repeating closed loops to reduce memory usage.
Mapping Notes
- Clear the map before creating a new map; otherwise, the map optimization engine will not be effective.
- Keep the device level. Generally, tilt the device no more than 20°.
- Keep the device stable and avoid excessive shaking. Sudden stops or sudden movements will affect mapping accuracy and performance. - After the loop returns to the origin, keep the robot moving, taking as many overlapping routes as possible. Do not stop immediately.
- After the loop returns to the origin, if the map is not closed, continue moving until the loop is closed.
- When building a map with a handheld, walk at a normal walking speed. It is recommended to slow down when encountering narrow spaces with few features or around turns.
- When scanning indoor scenes involving multiple rooms or floors, open all doors in advance. When passing through a door, scan slowly and pause sideways at the doorway to ensure that features on both sides of the doorway are scanned simultaneously. If a door is not open during scanning, slowly turn around before approaching the door, turn the device away from the door, open the door with your back to the door, and slowly enter.
- Entering and exiting a door
- It is necessary to enter and exit a door sideways to ensure that the laser and vision systems have a common field of view as before entering the door, thereby ensuring better data integration.
- Entering and exiting a narrow space: When exiting a narrow space after scanning, check whether there are sufficient reference objects and whether the structural features are clear. If the above two conditions are not met, when exiting a confined space, focus your view on an area with good structural features and avoid excessive camera switching.
6. Saving the Map
On the Aurora Remote main screen, click "Map Manager" --> "Download to File" to save the map as a file in stcm format.

7. Host Computer User Manual
7.1 Main Interface

7.2 Switching Viewpoints
Aurora Remote provides three viewing angles for you to choose from. Click the "Switch Viewpoint" button on the main interface to switch between different viewing angles.

7.3 Camera View

7.4 IMU View
Click the "IMU View" icon on the main interface to view gyroscope and accelerometer data in real time.

7.5 Real Scene Dense Mapping
Open Real Scene Dense Mapping --> "Select Folder..." and select the appropriate folder to store the recorded dataset.

- Start Acquisition and Mapping
Open the Real Scene Dense Mapping app, select "Start Acquisition and Mapping," and select "Stop" to download the collected dataset to the corresponding folder.

Select "Start Densification" to begin processing the dense point cloud dataset.

- Load a Recorded SfM Dataset for Mapping
- Upload: Click "Load Recorded SfM Dataset Map" and select the uploaded map folder.
- The upload progress will be displayed during the upload process. Wait until the upload is complete.

7.6 Zooming/Dragging the Map
- Use the mouse wheel to zoom the map.
- Click and hold the right mouse button while moving the mouse to drag the map.
- Click and hold the left mouse button while moving the mouse to rotate the map.
7.7 Resetting the Map
Once you have completed creating a map, or want to reset it while it's still being created, you can use "Device Operations" --> "Reset Map".
Resetting the map will clear the existing map and reinitialize the device.

7.8 Map Synchronization
The "Synchronize Map" button synchronizes all updated maps from the backend to the interface. Because global updates are time-consuming, we only perform incremental updates near Aurora during map creation, and only perform a full update when a closed loop is detected.
7.9 Saving/Uploading Maps
Save as a file in stcm format. On the main screen, click "Map Manager" and then "Download to File" to save the map in stcm format.

To upload a map, click "Upload from File" and select the map file to upload. The upload progress will be displayed.

After the upload is complete, a message indicating successful upload will appear in the lower-right corner.

7.10 Pop-up Messages
While Aurora Remote is running, messages may pop up in the lower-right corner of the main interface. The main Aurora Remote pop-up messages are listed in the table below.
