Orin Nx Installation and Update Notes

Users who purchased after October 17, 2025, can skip this tutorial. Customers who purchased before October 17, 2025, please note:

If you need to run the upgrade command or click the pop-up window to update the system, you must execute the following command before running it. Otherwise, the system will not boot after the update.

sudo apt update
sudo apt install cpio

Run the above commands before upgrading.

sudo apt upgrade
sudo apr-get upgrade

2. If you updated the system using the desktop pop-up prompt, after clicking install, you must run the following command before shutting down and restarting the system. Otherwise, the system will not boot after restarting.

sudo apt update
sudo apt install cpio
sudo apt upgrade

Solution for a system failure after a system update:

1. If you wish to continue using our image, first refer to [02. Jetson basic course]-[05. Restore initial image system], prepare your own SSD enclosure, and re-burn the SSD image. If the system still fails to boot after re-burning the SSD image, refer to [02. Jetson basic course]-[07. Write SUPER boot (official kit must read)] to burn the super boot. Finally, check if the system boots.

2. If you do not use our image, refer to the tutorial [02. Jetson basic course]-[06. Upgrade to SUPER version] to burn the official clean image. However, the clean image does not include any environments, so our tutorials cannot be used directly.
