04.Disabling automatic updates and troubleshooting issues
Disabling Automatic Updates and Troubleshooting
Recently, several customers have reported issues such as CSI cameras becoming unusable and automatic system updates occurring after OTA system upgrades. Solutions are provided below.
1. Why Disabling Automatic Updates is Necessary:
Currently, the Jetson Orin factory image version is R36 4.3, while the latest official version is R36 4.7. After upgrading, issues may arise such as CSI cameras not being found (awaiting official fix) or upgrade failures preventing booting. Users are advised to upgrade only as needed and avoid performing full system upgrades unnecessarily. Because Nvidia systems have built-in update checks, some users may be prompted to install updates and shut down upon shutdown. Therefore, it is necessary to manually disable automatic updates to prevent problems caused by updates.

2. How to disable automatic updates:
2.1 Disable updates
xxxxxxxxxxcd /etc/apt/apt.conf.dsudo touch 20auto-upgradessudo vi 20auto-upgrades# Fill in the following content into the 20auto-upgrades fileAPT::Periodic::Update-Package-Lists "0";APT::Periodic::Unattended-Upgrade "0";
2.2 Disable and stop apt-daily Timers
xxxxxxxxxxsudo systemctl disable apt-daily.timersudo systemctl disable apt-daily-upgrade.timersudo systemctl stop apt-daily.timersudo systemctl stop apt-daily-upgrade.timer
3. Troubleshooting:
3.1 System upgrade failed, causing boot failure?
A: Re-flash the bootloader and system image, restore factory settings, disable automatic updates as instructed, and upgrade individual feature packages as needed.
3.2 System upgrade successful, but CSI camera not detected?
A: Re-flash the bootloader and system image, restore factory settings, disable automatic updates as instructed, and wait for Nvidia to release a new version to fix the issue.
3.3 Power off prompts for an update, but you don't want to update?
A: Power off and then power on again, running the command to disable automatic updates.
3.4 How to check the system version? A: Run the command: cat /etc/nv_tegra_release. Refer to the NVIDIA website: https://developer.nvidia.com/embedded/jetson-linux-archive to check the Jetson Linux version and corresponding Jetpack version.
3.5 Motherboard indicator lights not on?
A: Check if the motherboard power supply is 9-19V. Check if a jumper cap is connected below the core board to enter programming mode. Check if the core board is properly connected to the carrier board. If the lights are still not on, it may be a hardware problem.
