Fingertip Trajectory Recognition

Please ensure that the web control program backend process is not running in the background. To close it, refer to the [Get Started Quickly - 2. Access the Terminal] section in [Disable the Auto-Start Web Control Backend Process]. After closing, please restart DofbotUltra!!!

Open the terminal and enter the tutorial command to run directly.

1、Startup

1.1、Program Description

After the program starts, the camera captures the image. Place your palm flat in the camera view with fingers spread and palm facing the camera, similar to a number 5 gesture. The image will draw all the joints on the palm. Adjust the palm position, preferably in the upper-middle part of the screen.

image-20240709151729612

Now keep the index finger extended while retracting the other fingers, similar to a number 1 gesture.

image-20240709153155463

While maintaining gesture 1, move the finger position. A red line appears on the screen, tracing the movement path of the index finger.

image-20240709153231185

When the shape is complete, open all fingers (gesture 5), and the drawn shape will be generated below.

image-20240709153342249

Note: The drawn shape needs to be a closed figure, otherwise parts may be missing.

There are four recognizable trajectory shapes: Triangle, Square, Circle, and Star.

1.2、Operation Steps

  1. Extend your index finger (gesture One), hold for about 1 second to enter trajectory tracking mode

  2. Keep the index finger extended and move your finger to draw a closed shape

  3. After drawing, spread all five fingers (gesture Five), the program automatically recognizes the shape and displays the result in a new window

Press the spacebar to clear the current trajectory and redraw. If your finger leaves the frame for more than 2 seconds, the trajectory is automatically cleared.

1.3、Program Startup

  • Enter the following command to start the program

xxxxxxxxxx
ros2 run dofbot_mediapipe 15_FingerTrajectory.py

Press the q key in the image window or Ctrl+C in the terminal to exit the program.
