6.SD card expansion
System Disk Expansion
Note: The factory image's system is compressed for easy downloading and for users to replace SD cards of different capacities. If the disk space shown does not match the actual capacity, follow this tutorial to expand.
The factory image uses an older version of the RDK official system, and the root filesystem is mounted as read-only by default. Therefore, it cannot be expanded directly using GParted in the system. However, you can use the srpi-config tool provided by RDK.
srpi-config
srpi-config is a general configuration management tool provided by the RDK system. It can be launched from the terminal or desktop environment for adjusting network settings, system behavior, peripheral interfaces, performance parameters, and localization options. Here we mainly use the "Expand Filesystem" feature in its advanced menu, which extends the root filesystem to the entire storage space, thereby expanding the RDK system's storage.
Before starting, you can use df -h or GParted (GUI) to check the disk usage of the currently mounted and active filesystem.
If GParted is not installed, use the command
sudo apt install gpartedto install it, and launch it withsudo gparted.

Opening srpi-config
Open via command line
srpi-config is a system configuration tool. To open it, type the following command in the terminal:
sudo srpi-config
sudois a privilege escalation command and must be entered here to obtain root permissions for configuration management. The defaultsunriseaccount does not have permission to modify system files.

Open via desktop
If you are using a desktop system, you can find the RDK Configuration application in the menu to configure it. This will open a configuration terminal similar to the one shown above.

Disk Expansion
The advanced options allow you to configure disk expansion, network proxy, etc. Select Advanced Options and press Enter.

Select Expand Filesystem again and press Enter to complete the one-click expansion. This option will expand the installation to fill the entire TF card, providing more space for the filesystem.

Press Enter to select OK.

The expansion is now complete. You can verify using df -h or GParted. The root filesystem has been extended to the entire storage space.
