Color Block Volume Measurement

Please ensure that the web control program backend process is not running in the background. To close it, refer to the [Get Started Quickly - 2. Access the Terminal] section in [Disable the Auto-Start Web Control Backend Process]. After closing, please restart DofbotUltra!!!

Before starting this function, you need to close the web control program backend process.

1. Function Description

After the program runs, it recognizes the shape of the selected color block and obtains the relevant data of the color block to calculate the volume of the color block.

2. Startup and Operation

2.1 Startup Commands

Open four terminals and enter the following commands to start:

xxxxxxxxxx
# Start the camera
ros2 launch orbbec_camera dabai_dcw2.launch.py
# Start the low-level control arm driver
ros2 run dofbot_ultra_driver arm_driver
# Start the inverse kinematics program
ros2 run dofbot_ultra_info kinematics_dofbotultra
# Start the volume test program
ros2 run dofbot_ultra_driver calculate_volume

2.2 Operation

After the program starts, place the color block in the image. Use the mouse to select an area within the color block to obtain the HSV value. If the HSV value of the obtained color cannot correctly identify the shape of the color block, you may need to fine-tune the HSV value. Enter the following command in the terminal to start the dynamic parameter adjuster:

xxxxxxxxxx
ros2 run rqt_reconfigure rqt_reconfigure

You can modify the HSV value through the sliders:

image-20250415114608200

The program filters out other colors through the HSV value, keeping only the colors within the HSV value range. The program recognizes the shape of the color block and calculates the color block's data based on the center point of the color block, and then calculates the volume of the color block based on the recognized shape.

Adjusting offset:

Sometimes errors may occur. We can try to fine-tune by setting the offset value:

xxxxxxxxxx
# If you find that moving the wood block position causes large changes in Height, adjust the pitch_bias parameter
ros2 param set /color_detect pitch_bias 0.02

# If you find that Height changes are small but there is a stable deviation from the actual result, adjust the height_bias parameter
ros2 param set /color_detect height_bias 1.2
