2. Switch Chinese input method

If you are using the factory image we provided, manual installation and configuration are not required.

This tutorial demonstrates installing Chinese input method on Raspberry Pi 5.

Input Method Installation

  • Update software sources

sudo apt-get update

  • Install Fcitx framework and Google Pinyin input method

sudo apt-get install -y fcitx fcitx-googlepinyin

Restart the system after installation!

Using the Input Method

Select Fcitx Configuration to add Google Pinyin input method

Uncheck the Only Show Current Language option, then select Google PinYin from the input method list, and finally click OK to close this window.

Switching Input Methods

If shortcut key switching fails, you can manually switch the input method.

Shortcut Key Switching

Use Ctrl + Space to switch input methods!

Manual Switching

If shortcut keys cannot switch, you can manually switch by clicking the keyboard option!
